-Rent Bikes at Marina Bike Rentals (regular bikes) or Beach E Biking (e-bikes) (or anywhere else) and hit up the strand! This beach-adjacent bike path goes about 3 miles south from Redondo or 20 miles north to Santa Monica. You can stop at any of the beach cities along the way for a snack or drink :D Fun ones just north of us are Hermosa Beach and Manhattan Beach. (You can also walk or run along this path if you prefer) https://file.lacounty.gov/SDSInter/dbh/docs/189949_2013-BIKEMAP85x11Web-Ready(highres).pdf
-Go to the beach. Hermosa Beach is probably best for this if you goal is to lay on the sand and maybe put your feet in, but anywhere in Redondo or Manhattan works too!
-Get a breakfast burrito from one of our favorite places then walk to the beach to enjoy them. Or get multiple and tell us which you thought was the best! Our fave is Phanny's, the objective winner is Barran's (easiest to get from Tigres Fuego, but you have to get there early or they might run out; otherwise you have to "order" directly from Barran's via instagram), and a third option people like for the presentation is Brother's Burrito.
-Get food we like. We are food snobs so you can trust our recommendations ;P You can't go wrong at Proudly Serving (smash burgers), Vin Folk (nice dining/great food), Atta Girl (California/mediterranean), Tigres Fuego (tacos), Sugarfish (sushi), Addi's Darbar (Indian), Locale90 (pizza) or Redwood Pie (pizza), Culture Brewing (brewery), Select Beer & Tap Room (beer), The Boy and The Bear (coffee) or Sleepy Seal (coffee), and Tommy & Atticus (bakery/cafe/coffee)
-Go to the Redondo Beach Pier ("King Harbor") for Mai Tais from Tony's on the Pier (in a free souvenir cup!), beers from Naja's (just gotta go with it), and/or stand up paddle boarding (we've never done it). You can also go the Hermosa Beach Pier and/or the Manhattan Beach Pier for decidedly different vibes.
-Go on a hike in Palos Verdes (PV). We really like the Portuguese Bend Reserve, but TBD if it will still exist come June 2025 due to massive land sliding...
-Watch people play volleyball at the Smackfest Tournament
in Hermosa Beach. This is an annual event with a cult following. Teams of all levels compete for greatness, often while wearing interesting costumes (though tbh, we've never actually been)
-Go to the Griffith Observatory. There are nice hikes and great views, and this is where the Hollywood sign is.
-Visit a museum: The Getty (museum or Villa), LACMA (art), La Brea Tar Pits, California Science Center, Natural History Museum...there are more!
-Go to Universal Studios, Disneyland or Knott's Berry Farm (San Diego stuff is a bit far away, but that's where SeaWorld, Legoland, and the San Diego zoo are)
-We've never really been downtown but you could try it out!
(Unfortunately this idea has been all but quashed due to recent fires :/ Take the PCH north to Santa Monica (pier with fun stuff?) or Malibu (Malibu); could also hike up in the Santa Monica Mountains.)
